What is The Folklore of Nick Reynolds?
It is an original American superhero folklore comic series told in 24 issues across three arcs. A builder named Nick Reynolds — called Mr. Delco — and a crew of five protect their block using fire that comes from a backyard stone pit. Every issue is written to be read on this site as a cinematic comic and to work as a print-ready page.
Is Mr. Delco a real person or a fictional character?
The Mr. Delco of these comics is a fictional character. The fire, the abilities, the missions, the Keepers, the Curator, the Ember Crown and the Night Engine are all invented for the story. No event in the series is a report of anything that happened, and no character represents any real official, employee, neighbor, business owner or adversary.
Where is the series set?
In a heightened, fictionalized version of Delaware County, Pennsylvania — the Delco of the title. Township roads, corner stores, ball fields and back porches are used as a stage. Street names, institutions and addresses in the comics are invented and do not map to real places.
Who are Tiny, Vance, Spark, Shh and Boochi?
They are the five fictional members of Nick's crew. Tiny works the spaces nobody else fits into and carries the lamp. Vance is the wall that holds a doorway open. Spark is the brother whose fire runs white and who carries an old ash mark. Shh reads what a place is hiding and speaks only when it counts. Boochi is the one who is already around the back before anyone notices he left.
Who are the Keepers?
The Keepers are the invented antagonists of the saga. They collect deeds, debts, favors and eventually the stories people tell about themselves, and file everything in a tower run by a figure called the Curator. They are entirely fictional — an idea about hoarding other people's stories, not a stand-in for any real organization or person.
What is the reading order?
Read in issue number order, No. 1 through No. 24. Arc One, The First Flame, is Issues 1–8. Arc Two, Roads of Delco, is Issues 9–16. Arc Three, The Keeper Vault, is Issues 17–24 and closes the first saga. Every issue page also has previous and next links.
Are the issues free to read?
